Chemical Brothers bring me back into some electronicness
I’ve never fully gotten into Chemical Brothers. Not sure why. I can even remember back in highschool (13+ years ago) a classmate playing one of their songs for a school project. I just remember being a little freaked out at the time with the sound. Forgive me as I was an innocent Phish head who didn’t know any better about music outside the jam scene.
Recently I’ve been hearing about their greatest hits album, Brotherhood (Out now), and the single “Midnight Madness”. There’s also a video contest, which I believe is now over, where fans were given the chance to create a soundtrack to “Midnight Madness”. If you haven’t heard or seen the video for this song, you have to check it out. It’s both creepy and intriguing. Even Kanye got in on the Chemical Brother ‘Madness’.
The Midnight Madness single is available through Amazon MP3 and it comes with a Soulwax remix of “Hey Boy, Hey Girl”, which you can download for free from thechemicalbrothers.com.

Chemical Brothers are a bit of a diversion from my current listening patterns (Great Lake Swimmers, Felice Brothers, Bon Iver, Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene)). I’m hoping to get my hands on Brotherhood when it comes out as I think, after thirteen years, it’s time to delve into their music.
The double disc will include their singles over the past 13 or so years they’ve been around, longer if you include their “Dust Brothers” days, and also mixes from their Electronic Battle Weapon, which are basically just the ‘Brothers’ remixing their latest tunes and sending them out to the DJ world for usage in the clubs.
