Last minute concert update…
Benjy Ferree is a young new artist from Maryland whose sound falls around classic rock, Americana, folk and some rockabilly. In his vocals I hear a slight pain similar to guys like Jeff Buckley. However, I’m not going so far as to say his voice is up in Buckley’s range.
Benjy’s latest album was inspired by the rise and fall of Bobby Driscoll who played Peter Pan in the 1953 Disney movie. As with many child actors, Bobby reached the age of purity and slowly but surely faded into thin air. Like many other child actors, the end to Bobby’s story is not a happy one. He was found dead at the tender age of 31 in 1968. The police were unable to identify the body at the time so he was buried anonymously on New York’s Hart Island. Yeah, pretty depressing.
As a child, Benjy was fascinated with the Peter Pan character played by Bobby so when he found out about his tragic story he was compelled to write this album, “Come Back To The Five and Dime, Bobby Dee Bobby Dee”. Album was released on February 17th through Domino Records.
