Quilt are Shane Butle, Anna Fox Rochinski and John Andrews (Taylor Mcvay, who plays on most of the new album, left recently). Like many a band in the Boston area they formed while attending school together (School of Museum of Fine Arts). Their sound comes with all the usual psychadelic ingredients – spacey guitars, floating harmonies and improvisation. But their pop sensibilities ring tru in the track, “Young Gold”, off their upcoming self-titled release (November 8th via Mexican Summer).
As far as I can tell, there are no upcoming local shows. There is a show down in NYC at Glasslands on November 9th to celebrate their album release. I smell a move in their mist and yet another band leaving their roots here in Boston. Hopefully that’s not the case as it would be nice to retain these kids.
