Editor and ChiefOriginally from Philadelphia, now living in Boston, I’ve gone through several musical tastes over the course of my life.  This is typical of any young adolescent, however, the average individual usually starts to hang back from exploring new areas of music, much like with video games.  We grow up loving to play Atari and then eventually we’re obsessed with NHL 99 on Nintendo 64.  As soon as college and the real world take over you stop caring about the new games and systems coming out.

However, like many of my peers, I didn’t stop with the exploration of music.  Admittedly, for roughly six or seven years, my main musical focus was the jamband Phish.  I have since moved on.  It started with an introduction to Wilco and the Flaming Lips and has grown from there where in any given day I may pop on Brighten the Corners by Pavement or Coming on Strong by Hot Chip.

It was in 2004 when I was first introduce to the music blog universe.  It was Stereogum, Fluxblog and Scenestars who first hooked me to this medium.  Finally, after returning from a trip down to Atlantic City where us Philly kids caught our second Huey Lewis & the News Show in two years down in grand old AC, I started my own blog.  Of course, coming off an inspirational Huey show, I decided to go with Hip2besquare as the name and the story continues on from there.

I love hearing about new music and if you’d like to send me something of interest (whether your own or you work for a pr firm or the actual label), send it my way and I’ll try and give it my full attention.
